Artist's Comments
Mikey is the star of the upcoming Nicktoon Kappa Mikey, scheduled to run on Nick on August 20th. The show had eight of the first episodes "tested" on the Nicktoons Network on February, and since then, I have gotten a job at teh studio with many other animators to improve those episodes and build on others for it. The stories will most likely be attractive to elementary and middle-schoolers who haven't yet understood the concept of "Saturday-morning morals". But the concept, designs and backgrounds are fresh, and the show is far from boring!
Here's Mikey in my own style. That's a sticker on his finger, for those who are wondering. There is controversy about the show not being a true anime at all, yet MTV and many other ads call it one. I could go on and on about why it is not supposed to be anime, and about how EVERY employee in this studio knows it, but if you really want to discuss, then bring it up. He IS the easiest to draw. I did a few doodles of him while watching the show yesterday. I can see how easy he is to animate as well. I would think that the hardest part is just to work with his facial expressions...since he has so many.
